My dearly beloved in Christ,

I wish to remind you of the words of our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ as he neared the end of his life and work on earth. The more he got closer the cross, and the time he was to go back to God his Father, the more he spoke on the topic of love that his disciples should have for one other. He wanted you and I to love one another the same way he loved us; to give and continue to give our lives for one other.

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you” (John 15:12)

He knew that in the world, we would experience was hostility and hatred and this love for one another would be what would keep us through those dark time. He warned us that if the world hated us, it hated him first. Once more, I call to your remembrance the love Christ enjoined us to have one for another, to our brothers and sisters of the faith. This is how we ultimately demonstrate our love for Jesus Christ: by loving one another. It is sweetly expressed by the words of the ancient Christian hymnal “Ubi Caritas”. Pray for every child of God and follower of Jesus in your prayers. Don’t forget to remember those passing through persecution, famine and suffering. Always keep them in your heart.

Where charity and love are, God is there.Christ’s love has gathered us into one.Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him.Let us fear, and let us love the living God.And may we love each other with a sincere heart.Where charity and love are, God is there. As we are gathered into one body,Beware, lest we be divided in mind.Let evil impulses stop, let controversy cease,And may Christ our God be in our midst.Where charity and love are, God is there. And may we with the saints also,See Thy face in glory, O Christ our God:The joy that is immense and good,Unto the ages through infinite ages. Amen.

This year I want you to make a commitment to read the bible for yourself. There has never been a time when it has become so important to learn the word of God for ourselves. We are in a period when there is an exponential increase in those claiming to speak the word of God but don’t know God at all.

Jesus Christ warned us that there will be many who come in His name, healing the sick, raising the dead and doing mighty deeds but are workers of lawlessness. There are many of those today who are deceiving many who are earnestly searching for the truth.

God has made his desire to make himself known to us clear, and that we can all know Him for ourselves through His word. I want to challenge you to make human sources of the word secondary this year but to determine to have the revelation of God’s word for yourself. Human knowledge profits absolutely nothing, and only the revelation that comes from above is that which is pure, truthful and gives life.
